(Kuala Lumpur, 26th June 2018): The Formula 4 South East Asia (F4 SEA) Championship – fueled by Petron – is on the cusp of the third season, with event one just around the corner http://fiaf4.asia/2018_Event1. The Promoter of Asia’s premier driver development series is always on the lookout for exciting new potential and is visiting the African open at the Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria from 30th June till 1st July 2018.
The Rand Kart Club will host the fourth round of the Gauteng Northern Region’s Championship this coming Saturday, followed by the Rotax Max African Open on Sunday 1st July, in what promises to be a no-holds-barred karting brawl. The best talents in Africa and beyond will be putting their best foot forward come race weekend, and Peter Thompson (email@example.com) will be at the track to see who is ready to step up to F4:
“South Africa is alive with up-and-coming motorsport talent. I believe that F4 SEA is the best way forward for talented African drivers who wish to pursue professional careers in the sport, while having a lot of fun along the way. The team behind F4, MERITUS.GP, has won with many African drivers over the years including Matthew Swanepoel (RSA), Shayur Harpal (RSA) and Jeremy Wahome (KEN). It would be fantastic for an African driver to win an FIA F4 championship and be rewarded with the same McLaren F1 evaluation this year’s winners have received!”
At the F4 SEA’s annual Awards Gala earlier this month, McLaren F1 Team Principal Eric Boullier (https://formula4.asia/mclaren-f1-evaluates-f4-sea-winners/) stated “McLaren is very happy to work with Peter Thompson and Formula 4 in Asia. I have pleasure in confirming that McLaren Applied Technology invites three of the top award winners for a simulator evaluation and an introduction to McLaren F1 facilities.”
Designed to promote motorsport in Asia and recognise and reward racing heroes and talented engineers, the MERITUS Awards Gala (MAGs) was telecast live to over 400 million homes.
Formula 4 is the FIA’s stepping stone to the highest echelons of motorsports such as F1, LMP1 and GT1. Through its unique ‘one’ concept (one make, one team, shared data, for one price), Formula 4 SEA teaches the fundamentals of racing on world-class FIA-certified tracks around Asia. The identical cars and engineering provide an equal playing field while the open data motivates drivers to learn from the best on the grid! Coupled with world-class driver coaches to improve each drivers’ race craft, F4 SEA is truly the formula for success.
The 2018 F4 SEA Championship will comprise eight rounds visiting Malaysia, India and Thailand, with three races at each event and ‘double-header’ events at each location to save on logistics.
