The sun was starting to set on the picturesque Buriram International circuit as the F4 cars went out for their first race of the weekend and indeed the first race in Thailand this season! Alessandro Ghiretti was on the first row of the grid alongside Kane Shepherd, the Frenchman pinched pole by 4.9 hundredths of a second, continuing the battle that has been brewing between the two drivers all year.
Both got off the line well and Alessandro lead us through turn 1 and on to victory! Shepherd matched his lap times within a tenth the whole race, but Alessandro built a 1.5 second gap lap by lap as the action unfolded at the back of the grid.
Ryo Komikado, Luke Thompson and Sandy Stuvik were battling it out for sixth. The trio swapped places several times, but Luke managed to retain his position while Muizz closed in on the red number 3 car of Kane Shepherd in front of him.
The Malaysian put in a personal best, 4 tenths faster than the leader on that lap, doubled down to tenths fast and then set the fastest lap of the race! Thailand and Malaysia were soon embroiled in a full-on battle for 2nd place which allowed France’s Ghiretti to widen the gap to a comfortable 3 seconds.
Antoine Potty saw the battle going on in-front of him, taking advantage the Belgian driver started to close in, but Kane and Muizz were a little to far ahead and as the chequered flag waved, despite Muizz’s best efforts, evening diving up the inside of the final corner, it was Ghiretti, Shepherd, Muizz – 1st, 2nd, 3rd!
