Formula 4 South East Asia fueled by Petron has just concluded an incredible weekend of edge-of-your-seat racing at the Sepang International Circuit.

At each event of the one-make championship, in recognition of his performance over the six-race weekend, one driver is crowned ‘Event Champion.’

The event championship title is scored on reverse points, this means that every race winner gets 1 point, second gets 2 points and so on and the overall winner is the driver with the least points overall.

For Event 4, thirteen drivers from around the world took to the challenging Sepang F1 track in the hopes of clenching the title of Event Champion. Newcomer Mitchell Cheah from Malaysia tied with Daniel Cao with 23 points, but Cheah won the tie-breaker based on the fastest lap in the last race.

“I didn’t expect this at all. I thought that it was just going to be six-race weekend. My goal was just to get the best results possible and I was delighted to learn that I was the event champion” said Cheah.

Two-time event champion Cao was inches away from the trophy. “I was so close to taking the trophy. I need more experience and I will do better next time” reiterated the Shanghai-born lad.

Kane Shepherd from Thailand came in third in car number 3 with 26 points, followed by Hibiki Taira from Okinawa with 28 points.

“I had my eye on the championship, but I’m happy with this too,” said Kane.

Formula 4 SEA will be returning to Sepang for the final event of the 2017-18 season. The event will be announced soon by the promoters so please follow our social media platforms to keep up to date.
