Ben Grimes owned Race 1 with his masterful driving but Race 2 belonged to his younger brother Sam.
Starting from the back of the grid as he didn’t finish the first race, Sam moved up to sixth after the first lap.
With Ben and Daniel Cao of China out on their own, the fight for the last podium spot was the highlight of the race.
Once Sam overtook Malaysia’s Timothy Yeo on the fifth of 13 laps, he was involved in an intense three-way battle with another Malaysian, Adam Khalid and Thailand’s Kane Shepherd.
Out in front, Cao was pressuring Ben at every turn, yet the Filipino held his own.
In the next lap, Sam moved into third spot and the possibility of both brothers being on the podium looked like becoming a reality.
That is, until Ben inexplicably made an error on the second last corner of the seventh lap to crash into the wall at 100kmph.
Cao, who was right behind, avoided hitting Ben and took advantage to grab the lead.
Ben, thankfully, escaped without any injuries and was declared fit to race in the last four races of the weekend.
With his brother out of the race, Sam now was up to second with Shepherd in third and Adam falling behind in fourth.
Next was Yeo, followed by Ireland’s Luke Thompson and Thailand’s Shivin Sirinarinthon.
That was how they finished the race with Cao claiming his fourth win of the season following his three victories at the Sepang International Circuit on Sept 29-Oct 1.
